Obsidian Armour and new update...?
So.....
New armor crafted in Elona or through the PvP Equipment panel can contain swappable insignias, which provide the same types of bonuses that previously were permanent parts of the armor, plus new bonuses that are being introduced with Nightfall.
Does this mean that the Obsidian armour I am saving up for will not be as good as armour crafted in Elona?
Just wondering if anyone can clear this up for me before I spend TONS of money....?!
Thanks

It's just saying that the modifications (+energy, +health etc. etc.) aren't linked to the skin of the armour anymore. So I don't see how the Obsidian armour would be worth any less- you'll probably be able to overide any inherent mods with new Nightfall mods if you wish to too.

Well they said insignias and inscriptions will only be for elonian armor and items so I don't think it will work on Obsidian. Might want to wait and see how it works out before you spend all the money.

I am hoping that they'll add an NPC in Elona that can upgrade your Tyrian/Canthan weapons and armor so they can accept inscriptions and insignias. It stinks that all these rare skins and 15k/Obsidian armors are going to become "out-of-date" because they can't use the new mods.
I'm actually considering scrapping a couple of my 15k sets so I can make a new one with insignias, but I hate how we'd have to get an armor with an Elonian appearance to do so.

I've got to agree with you Scutilla. It would be really nice if they added an upgrade NPC. Seems a shame to waste money on buying new armors for old characters. Especially if you do not like the new armor skins, and you are hard up on cash!

They should definately make FoW armor have insignas, even if they don't allow it for normally Tyrian/Canthan armor. From an RP standpoint it makes sense. A god can't craft armor as good as an Elonian...
As the game's "ulitmate" armor, it should definately have equal stats to the newest and best armor.

Well i just came back from the forge and they did. The actually left the old armor which you can't swap out, then put the new obsidian armor where it has no insignia on it and you can. Which kinda of sucks cause I have the old stuff and would love to have the new stuff, where i can switch insignias allowing me to change stats at will. I just pray they update existing armor with this feature. They should. That would be the fair thing right? I always thought they made these changes to make the game more balanced and fair to everyone. But actually in turn seem to be unfair and screw over people who spent over a million gold on this stuff. Like my friend and guildmate did just a week ago. But they won't being they haven't in the past. And if I want the new stuff I gotta fork out another million or so gold. Bah.

Didn't they update all the old armors when Factions came out to match the new ones? I don't see why they can't do so in this case. I'd be really angry if I had Obsidion Armor that wasn't even that awesome anymore :/

I think all nightfall armour starts with no insignia on it i recently bought the 15k sunspear it can have a insignia added but it has the normal warrior armour stats just 80+[+20 vs phisical]. it will take weeks for the rune trader to have insignias though so its basically useless for now.

Nope. Attributes bonuses and insignia bonuses are different thing. Basically you pick a headgear with the attribute you want and then add a bonus of your liking, for example more energy or damage reduction.
I'd like to take the Knight's bonus out of my Warrior's Obsidian boots and add a Radiant insignia (energy +1). Same for Ascalon helms.

They should've simply redone all armor so that the way upgrades worked on the armor themselves was like new elonian armor. Rather than make an entirely different type and have to go through the process, the system needs to be revised to allow everyone the same benefit.
Always strikes me odd not paying more attention to people who purchased previous copies and have played longer, if only by updating them to be like.

Well basically it is like saying, we don't care about those that have been playing, only for those starting now. Sadly they don't realize because of me and my brother, we've been playing this since day 1, got countless people to join (we head a guild of about 50, alot of them are friends who we influenced to buy the game) cause we love this game, then they do this everytime they expand. Basically it is like a slap in the face. I bought different sets of fow for different builds spending easily over a million gold. If I would have known they were going to do this, I could have bought one piece and switched insignias when I wanted to, for different builds and saved millions of gold and lots of my time. I wrote a nice long letter about this to the developers but who knows if it will even get to them. All I ask is that they make it fair for all and update all exisiting armor. We shall see. Sadly from past experiences and seeing what has gone on throughout this game, I see it not happeneing. We shall see.
